If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please. I have a new building with a AGS175CH27-ER10. Yesterday morning I walked into a 85 degree building. Friday night they had some crazy storms roll through. It tripped out the chw pumps vfd's, a bunch of starters for exhuast fans and fan coils, and the one chiller. So circuit 1 is tripped on low evap and circuit 2 is tripped on starter fault.

Find the starter on 2 with a '51' code, which is 'Current Sensor Offset Fault'. To be honest don't know what that is.so I ohm out the current sensors and they all read 11.1 ohms.

So I hit the reset on the starter board. So I go to the Microtech and reset all alarms. Circuit 1 starts up, but circuit 2 is still showing starter fault and starter board still in fault.

So I pull 120v from the starter board and reapply. Starter now says 'Ready'. But Microtech still showing starter fault.

So I power down chiller and reboot everything. Both circuits come on. The problem is circuit 2 is not showing any amperages or voltages on it's Mircotech controller. Circuit 1 is showing everything.

So I verify voltages and amperages are ok. Mess around some more, but can't get that 2nd circuit to show voltages or amperages. I'm thinking there is a problem with the serial card on the Microtech controller. BTW- The only thing I could get off the starter was AGS/WGS D3 RVSS.

Mcquay Chiller Manual For Aws Model

It's a solid state starter w/ communications. There is nothing in the manual for it and I couldn't find a seperate manual for it. Benshaw, say's when you get a '51' code you need a new D3 board for that starter.

The D3 card is defective. Need to call McQuay. You don't happen to have any service literature on the Benshaw starters? I haven't had a chance to get back over there to take another look. The excessive heat has had me else where. And the chiller is currently running both circuits. But it would nice to armed with some more info.

The stuff I have from McQuay doesn't really get into the starters. And code 51 it basically says nothing. You don't happen to have any service literature on the Benshaw starters? I haven't had a chance to get back over there to take another look.

The stuff I have from McQuay doesn't really get into the starters. And code 51 it basically says nothing. With the exception of the compressor teardown manuals, McQuay does not have service literature in print. The only way to get that information is to go to their schools and take lots of notes.

Daikin Chillers Manuals

The IOM has a flowchart for troubleshooting the starter, but it would have failed to identify your problem. I have problems with the Benshaw starters on a few of our Mcquay screw chillers.

Mcquay Agz Chiller Service Manual

Sometimes once a month, sometimes once a week I find a 'starter fault' alarm message. The literature that Mcquay sent us does not match the starter parameters at all. I wish I knew how to remedy a 'bypass contactor fault on stop' fault code F48. The chillers are old, but have low hours and everything including the starters are in nearly new condition.Any ideas? Can anyone find service info on the Benshaw Starters? The voltages/phases at the site are correct and checked by the onsite electricians.only one compressor on each of the chillers shuts down on this alarm.the other chillers and equiptment runs fine, and the operating pressures, temps, oil levels and oil pressures on all very similar to the compressors that run good.even the starter parameters are the same.

I can't send you anything since you don't have your e-mail in profile.(but it sounds like you already have the correct quick start for that card). Your best bet is to call Benshaw tech support @ 800-203-2416. I have found them to be extremely helpful. Not sure if they will talk to you since you aren't an OEM, but it's worth a try.

You will need to have the serial number of the starter. It will be on a white Benshaw tag inside the cabinet door. The serial should start with 'S200' or similar. Be sure to tell them you have McQuay code in the starter as it is different than an off the shelf card.

I've never had to deal with that particular fault, but it's been my experience that often the fault has has nothing to do with the fault description. Quick Navigation. Site Areas.
