Visually inspect the steering and suspension components (front and rear) for damage and distortion. Look for damaged seals, boots and bushings and leaks of any kind. Examine the bushings where the control arms meet the chassis (see illustration). Clean the lower end of the steering knuckle. Have an assistant grasp the lower edge of the tire and move the wheel in-and-out while you look for movement at the steering knuckle-to-control arm balljoint. If there is any movement the suspension balljoint(s) must be replaced. Grasp each front tire at the front and rear edges, push in at the front, pull out at the rear and feel for play in the steering system components.

It does cover what is says, however, it provides the most instructions for models closer to 2007. I have a 2002 hatchback c230 and most of the instructions for this are thrown in as an afterthought and often begin with 'some model have.' , leaving it more as a generic guideline rather than detailed instructions for my specific model.

Also, it seems the proper research for what these cars need wasn't done as it recommends oil changes every 3,000 miles and lists synthetic oil as a recommendation, while anyone who looked up the oil change schedule will find you can go as far as 15,000 per oil change and synthetic is a REQUIREMENT. The FSS (flexible service schedule) is set up to work with synthetic and, for example, if you were to buy this car brand new still under warranty and used petroleum based oil, any damage incurred would not be covered in the Mercedes Powertrain warranty.
